Tectonix, a supplier of high-quality natural stone materials for the built environment, is proud to announce that it has successfully offset the carbon emissions for its UK operations. Partnering with Neutral Carbon Zone (NCZ), Tectonix has utilised its ISO-accredited methodology to establish a credible step on the journey towards net zero, comprehensively understanding, calculating, and capturing the origins of its emissions.

In an era where environmental responsibility is paramount, Tectonix has demonstrated its commitment by rigorously measuring and quantifying all company Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to ISO 14064 compliance. This has been achieved by a detailed root and branch data capture process utilising the user-friendly carbon management platform provided by NCZ, which captures all relevant data to calculate the baseline carbon footprint on an organisational, operational, and supply-chain level.

Tectonix has offset the calculated emissions for UK operations by retiring carbon credits through the Verified Carbon Standard and VERRA registry, demonstrating their commitment to reducing their environmental impact and supporting verified carbon reduction projects.

Alan Stenson, CEO of Neutral Carbon Zone commented, “It’s fantastic to see a new business in the building materials sector taking the time to understand and make a difference in their environmental impact. By measuring and qualifying all their Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, Tectonix is setting a powerful example. The support from NCZ ensures they meet internationally recognised standards and drive meaningful change.”

Chris Frankland, Director at Tectonix, added, “Being a new business on the journey to understanding our carbon emissions has been an incredibly challenging yet rewarding journey. With the expertise of Neutral Carbon Zone, we’ve not only identified our environmental impact but also established potential strategies for reduction and management. This commitment not only aligns with our values but also helps us enhance our operational efficiency and provide insight to our customers and partners.”

Future Plans

Moving forward, Tectonix is already on the path to NCZ Gold Certification with a significant amount of its natural stone from Spain, Portugal, China and India, enabling the company to report on the specific impact of each material in their range soon. This will provide exceptional value and insight to clients on the impact of materials used on their projects, further solidifying Tectonix’s position as a responsible and forward-thinking natural stone supplier.
