HOLLYWOOD ROAD, LONDON

A little bit of Hollywood in South Kensington

Products: Mix of Mandra, Ziliang & Trino setts, Quinta Grey Kerbs

Contractor: FM Conway

Client: Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea

Landscape Architect: WSP

In the heart of South West London, Hollywood Road recently underwent a facelift, seamlessly blending the classic Georgian architecture of the surrounding buildings with a refreshed look and feel to the pavements and roadways. Tectonix was proud to supply our natural stone materials for this prestigious project, masterminded by WSP and brought to life by FM Conway.

This initiative is part of ongoing developments by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, aiming to enhance the area's appeal and functionality. Tectonix contributed to this vision with a selection of three granites, working hand in glove with WSP throughout the design selection process.

By understanding and engaging with WSP's vision for Hollywood Road, Tectonix proposed a selection of granite scale blends at source that balanced aesthetic appeal with practical performance. Detailed consultations and design iterations led to the perfect mix of Mandra, Trino, and Ziliang granites coupled with Quinta Grey kerbs. These granites were chosen for their complementary tones, creating a subtle, yet striking blend that adds a light and modern feel to Hollywood Road.

This sophisticated enclave of London, known for its stylish combination of residential properties, shops, cafes, and restaurants, now boasts enhanced roadways and pathways that support both a functional and practical space. The upgraded area accommodates outdoor seating, inviting locals and visitors to enjoy the revitalized space. This project exemplifies how thoughtful design and quality materials can transform urban spaces, making them more attractive and user-friendly.

Paul Tagliarini at WSP said "We found Tectonix extremely helpful in assisting with the material selection. They liaised with the quarry to explore several different paving arrangements, so our client could review a variety of approaches before agreeing on a specific and unique mix for their preferences."
